Sarah Quek's thoughts on Welcome Tea'09
Attending welcome teas bring up feelings of apprehension in me. I always wonder what the contents will be— boring talks, aimless games, poor organization etc. Such feelings were promptly dismissed when I attended the CF welcome tea. I was blessed to be able to bring along a friend who was interested in joining CF. I did not know how I would be able to get her to like this fellowship as I was a newbie myself. Yet, the warmth of the seniors and fellow friends did much to “win” us over. The opening games played were just a tad too old school—the bombing game. Yet it did serve to bring together the members of the different groups. People got to know their future fellow-buddies apart from their chosen CG mates. Core objectives of the fellowship were duly talked about. For those like me who attended the camp, it was the third time hearing the objectives of the year. It was a bit over-repetitive for me but for those who did not manage to attend the camp, I could say that it would have been very useful to know the direction in which the fellowship was heading in the year. There was also plenty of interaction time during the eat-and-greet session at the end of the welcome tea. I got to know more about the seniors, which was very useful as deals to buy their books were discussed (not relevant but useful nonetheless), which hall they stayed in (so we could have dinner/buffet outings) and much more. All these could not have happened if there was poor organization, which was the case for another welcome tea I attended. It was a really heartwarming experience for me and I hope that I can do as well for my future juniors. Overall, an A+ gathering J

Jennifer Kwan's thoughts on Corporate Meeting
It was really heart warming being greeted by a group of strangers when I first entered the room .
Being displaced away from this world by all the work piling up and natural fatigue from lectures, it was heartening to see zealous people of God who are enthusiastic about fellowship despite feeling the same way as I do.
We started off with a lighthearted icebreaker, which was in my opinion astutely crafted as we grouped ourselves according to our colleges. Being a complete newcomer, I felt much more at home after identifying people of the same college as me. Straight away I knew that I was not alone and it affirmed me, as my church was pretty keen on winning schools, college by college for the Lord.
Worship was meaningful despite me not knowing certain songs but did engaged with the Lord .I was not very sure what I was into due to unfamiliarity. Should I raise my hands? Should I speak in tongues? I did both very subtly so as not to upset the overall dynamics.
The bible study was indeed an eye opener .I seldom engaged myself in such detailed bible study. Perhaps it was due to me being overly complacent .I now know that there is so much more to the word of God. With peers around me interested in it, I am sure my understanding of the bible would improve.
On a lighter note, the campus staff worker was really engaging and hilarious .He lightened the atmosphere of something, which could be impossibly solemn and perhaps boring.
After all the teaching, there was fellowship. Personally I am amazed by the hospitality of the fellowship .The warmth of the members did make me feel a part of it despite being a member for a mere two hours.
This is indeed a welcoming experience for a newcomer.

Jin Cong's thoughts on CGW and CGLT

The first Care Group Workshop and Leaders' Training is finished and I think it's a good job done. Although there are several areas to improve on, I feel that God has done a pretty good work in me such that I coordinated something of this level solo. However, there are many people who came alongside and helped me plenty. I can sense the blessing that God is showering upon me through the help received and the equipping given to the members and leaders.
Although there were some stressing and disappointing moments, I was kept in good spirit through prayer and words of encouragement.
God: You're creative and in You is joy. We, who are gathered in Your name, enjoyed these sessions that You've put together and the fellowship we share in You is accented with joy.
Stephen: You're a blessing. Your wedding is two days away and yet you still opened your house for us to use for our leaders' training. The environment is fantastic and I'm inspired by your generousity.
Sherry: It's amazing that you kept to the time and got us to learn about IBS. The session although dry, was lightened by your jokes and cheery personality. I remember your pointer "Showhand.... hahahaha". It's indeed hilarious.
Shari: You're a great help thru the whole two days. Your "ABO then" session is fantastic. I'm sure this left a deep impression on the Fellas. They were so in tune with the idea of "Acts of Love" and so clear on meeting the needs of NTU. You were perpetually cleaning and giving us welfare. Thank you for serving the way that you do. I'm prepared to "wash you feet" too.
Kaihong: With such readiness you came and help out in the session. I'm glad to see that faithful servant character in you.
Shawn: Always reliable =)
Ainsley: I'm very thankful that you rushed down for the session that you are supposed to lead. The thermostat and thermometer analogy was thought provoking. The second half of the session, although, did not happen, I'm sure that the session would value add to the Fellas even more. Let's do the colourful activity during CGW 2.
Rhoda: You've clocked 10 hours! Ha.
Vivienne: Got to pass you the card I prepared for you somehow. I enjoyed asking questions and the insight you gave.
Samantha: Although the worship you prepared didn't happen, you still kept a positive attitude throughout the session although you spent so much time on it.
Samuel: The session you've lead turnout to be differnt from how I wanted it but the content you covered in "Interogation 101" is essential and a great tool for the leaders. You got to help out by leading more sessions in the future.
Tien: Thanks for the reminder and feedback. I appreciate the sensitivity that God have given you to watch out on the need to align the leaders with the same idea and mentality.
Leaders: Thank you for making the effort to come by hook or crook and showing so much support and brio.

More obstacles ahead. God, grant to me wisdom.
